Forestry, Fire, & Rangeland Management

I am a Forester with the USDA Forest Service working on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests—a 4-million-acre forest in north central Idaho. Part of why I love my job is the diversity in my job duties. I get to be involved in tree planting, stocking surveys, pre-commercial thinning, and white pine pruning, as well as things like collaborating with other resource specialists on projects related to forest health and timber management. A major component of working on upcoming projects is conducting NEPA-related activities such as data collection and analysis. One week I might be in the office; the next I might be grabbing my gear and heading into the woods for the day.
