Giving

The College of Natural Resources & Sciences at Humboldt State has a strong sense of community, and the many donors who help support our efforts are an important part of that community.

To ensure students continue receiving the highest-quality education possible, we recommend three key areas where donors can make the greatest impact:

  • Field-based learning, which is critical in preparing students for their careers by taking education beyond the classroom where they can apply their learning in a real-world setting. Examples of field-based learning include Geology Field Camp and excursions on HSU’s research vessel, the Coral Sea.
  • Student & Faculty Research, which is a valuable experience for students pursuing competitive jobs and post-graduate programs in the sciences. There are several ways, such as covering travel and equipment expenses, in which donors can help.
  • Conferences & Professional Meetings, these are often the site for networking, competitions, presenting research, and more. These events often offer on-the-spot hiring for students, and help students experience a diversity of ecosystems and perspectives.
  • Scholarships, which, based on need or a combination of other criteria, support students with financial resources to pursue their dreams.

With your support in these key areas, our students will have the experiences they need to learn, grow, and help create a more sustainable future for our planet.

Whether it is special learning opportunities like field trips or community service, access to new technologies, labs, or improved facilities, donors like you have the power to enrich the student experience at Humboldt State.

Support the Forestry Alumni Scholarship Endowment

The Forestry Alumni Scholarship Endowment helps deserving undergraduates pursue their studies to earn a degree in Forestry. The scholarship helps to pay their fees and tuition, currently $7,130 for the academic year. Eligible students are those with a minimum 2.75 GPA, at least a Junior class standing, and who are active in forestry-related activities, such as the Society of American Foresters, logging sports, Forestry Club, Student Association of Fire Ecology, and others. 1959 forestry alumnus, Robert “Bob” Archibald of Glendale, Arizona, from the first class of four-year graduates, will match alumni donations to the endowment up to $1,000 per year. Bob is making this generous challenge to encourage your donations. Please consider your own generous donation, especially in this Centennial Year of Humboldt State University. The forestry program has been a hallmark program of the university and we are proud of our forestry graduates, who are known throughout the world. Help keep our tradition strong. Thank you.
